We are extremely proud of our Sixth Form at Hanley Castle High School. We have a vibrant community which is hardworking and successful in examinations and outstanding in contributions to whole school life – including extracurricular sport, drama and music, charity work, student support and leadership roles.

Challenge
Our students are challenged on a daily basis to achieve their personal level of excellence whether academically or through supporting the many initiatives and opportunities available beyond the classroom. Our aim is for the students to learn how to survive in the real world, not just how to pass exams. We aim to provide our students with a high quality, deep and varied Curriculum Vitae when leaving us, enabling them to be one step ahead of the competition whether applying for a job or for a place at university.

Inspiration
In the classroom we aim to inspire our students to become passionate about the subject they have chosen to study in an attempt to foster a lifelong love and enthusiasm for their chosen area. We have an outstanding group of staff teaching post-16 lessons and the learning experiences the students receive is rich and varied. Students are challenged by staff to achieve their optimum grade through high quality lessons, guidance and support - to work with the information, use it and explore it.

Whatever your interest, ability or future plans, Hanley Castle has a great deal to offer you. We have an inclusive and appropriate entry policy and are able to recommend an appropriate pathway for each individual student, based on academia and interest, to make it easier for you to achieve your personal level of excellence.

Opportunities
In addition to examination success, the extracurricular opportunities at Hanley are vast and varied including peer support, sport, music, drama, charity work, peer listening, school councillors and the exciting new addition of house captains. All of these opportunities are designed to enrich the student’s sixth form life and make them a more valuable asset when they leave.

Support
To support the difficult transition from Y11 to Y12 we have a dedicated, talented and knowledgeable team of tutors who will guide each student through all aspects of sixth form life including developing independence, study skills, the demands of the courses and life beyond Hanley Sixth Form – university or work.

We do hope you see your future at Hanley Castle Sixth Form with the aim of fully immersing yourself in sixth form life – seizing the opportunities and focusing on realising your potential.
