Aspire@Hanley Vision Statement

Aspire @Hanley, our department for supporting students with SEN/D, is proud of its reputation as a caring and supportive facility within the school community.

We believe that all students have individual worth and should be provided with the opportunity to achieve and aspire.

Attendance at Hanley Castle High School is good because students are enthusiastic about learning in a vibrant and high quality learning environment. Our classrooms are fully inclusive and work is differentiated in order to ensure that additional learning needs are met. The provision provided for our students with additional learning needs is exciting and dynamic.

All students in the school community follow a broad and balanced curriculum prior to making choices for an appropriate Key Stage 4 qualification pathway. Students with SEND have achieved good outcomes at the end of Key Stage 4 allowing them to make successful transitions to the next phase of their education or training and prepare them for adulthood.

All of our teachers are teachers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and every teacher has responsibility for the progress of all of the children in their care. This commitment is supported through regular continuing professional development.

We are also committed to closing any gap which may arise between students with SEN/D and those without. This may include learning interventions in the classroom, or specific, short-term interventions beyond the classroom developed to meet a small group or individual needs.

Our students are at the heart of our work as we strive to support them in their growth into confident young adults well-equipped for life beyond education.
