In the exam room

A card with your exam number and name will be on your desk.

No bags or revision notes are allowed by your desk. You may leave them outside the room or in an area designated by the invigilator.

A bottle of water maybe brought into the examination room, but not one with a screw top. It must have a drinking nozzle. Other drinks are not allowed.

Mobile phones, iPods, MP3 players and other types of personal electronic equipment must be switched off and handed in to the invigilator or left outside the examination room.

The use of a highlighter pen is not allowed in your answers.

Make sure that you have the correct paper.

You will need to write your name and exam number on your exam paper or answer paper.

If you use additional writing paper make sure your name is on all sheets and that they are attached by a treasury tag. Paper and tags will be available in the exam room.

All examinations have instructions, which are on the front of your paper. These will also be read out to you by an invigilator.

Utilize the time for the examination sensibly. You will usually find that you have plenty of time, so spend time reading questions and checking your answers carefully.

You will not be allowed to leave an examination early.

Emergency Procedures

If the fire alarm sounds during an examination the examination invigilators will tell you what to do.

Don’t panic.

If you have to evacuate the room you will be asked to leave in silence and in the order in which you are sitting. You will be escorted to a designated assembly point.

Leave everything on your desk. You must not attempt to communicate with anyone else during the evacuation.

When you return to the exam room do not start writing until the invigilator tells you to. You will be allowed the full working time for the examination and a report will be sent to the awarding body detailing the incident.

Your Conduct

You will be quiet in the room, and also when entering and leaving the room.

Sometimes other exams maybe in progress so you must show consideration for others.

No writing on the surface of desks.

Cheating of any description will be treated severely.

Cheating maybe any written material or any actions construed as communication with another person. The consequences will result in the cancellation of your paper in that examination and in all other examinations which you have completed or still to sit. [These are rules of the exam boards]
