Morning Motivator
The Morning Motivator intervention is intended to enable students to start the school day with a positive and focussed approach to their learning. Sessions will consist of physical as well as academic activities and a healthy snack will be provided to ensure that our students are well prepared for their day of learning.

Break and Lunch Club
This club is open to all of our students with Special Educational Needs and our more vulnerable students who might benefit from a quieter, social environment.
The club is run by a Learning Support Assistant, and offers a number of planned engaging activities to develop student’s social skills and encourage them to feel further part of the school community.

Literacy Intervention (short term)
The aim of the intervention is to embed specific Literacy content delivered in English lessons and develop some of the skills required to make further curriculum progress in English. The intervention will take place in Aspire, during tutor time, over five consecutive days.

Numeracy Intervention (short term)
The aim of the intervention is to embed specific Numeracy content delivered in lessons and develop some of the skills required to make further curriculum progress in Maths. The intervention will take place in Aspire, during tutor period, over five consecutive days.

Rapid Reading Plus
The aim of this intervention is to develop students’ reading comprehension skills. Rapid Plus is an on-line reading comprehension intervention, offering interactive activities which supplement student’s reading and spelling skills across the whole curriculum.

Speech, Language and Communication Skills Intervention
The aim of the intervention is to pre-teach and embed subject specific vocabulary and to explore the phrasing and key words in assessment/exam questions. The intervention will take place in Aspire, during tutor time, once a week. The content explored will be provided by the subject teachers and will coincide with the curriculum being taught at that time. Mrs Yardley, Aspire’s Speech, Language and Communication Champion, will deliver the intervention and is happy to provide resources if you wish to work on these further at home with your child.

Y7 Catch-Up
The aim of the intervention is to re-visit the KS2 English and Maths curriculum and pre-teach some of the current KS3 curriculum in order to help them work in line with their peers. This in turn will increase students’ self-confidence and contribute towards raising their attainment in English and Maths.

The intervention will take place twice a week in Aspire throughout the year and each session will 60 minutes. Miss Watson will deliver the English content and Mr Picthall will deliver the Maths content.

Homework Club
Homework Club, which is an additional intervention session led by a Learning Support Assistant. The sessions are provided to help support students with Special Education Needs and organisational difficulties, in completing and managing their homework.

Due to the previous success of Homework Club, this year the sessions will be held on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:15pm-4:15pm in Aspire, room Y14. Students must bring the homework they wish to complete with them and their will be computers available for those who wish to access them.

Bespoke Interventions
Miss Wright, Mrs Stimpson and Miss Haighway also deliver 1:1 bespoke interventions for those students who need support which is different to the interventions outlined above. The bespoke interventions include:

  • Support with organisational difficulties
  • Developing self-confidence and self-esteem
