The German Exchange 2019 is a reciprocal exchange between staff and students of Hanley Castle High School and Rhön-Gymnasium in Bad Neustadt, Germany.
During the visit to Hanley Castle High School by Rhön Gymnasium students and staff they visit historical sites such as the Black Country Museum and Stratford upon Avon, are immersed in Hanley lessons, have a tea party with Hanley students, experience a Mandarin lesson from our visiting teachers from Jining Confucius International School and support our GCSE German students during their German lessons.
During the visit to Rhön-Gymnasium by year 9 and 10 students, they have cultural days in Wurzburg and Bad Neustadt, support German students in their English lessons (TEFL) and have a Latin lesson. Our students are given role play tasks to practice transactional spoken German and then carry out the
tasks in shops in Bad Neustadt. The students order breakfast in a German cafe, again using transactional spoken German and with strict orders not to speak English.
