Former student vists Y13 chemistry group

Former Hanley Castle High School Student Sam Trouton who is now a teaching fellow at Warwick University, visited our Year 13 Chemistry class on 29th September.

Sam T3

He incorporated all of our analytical skills in chemistry thus far into a Monopoly-style game where we had to compete against each other in small teams to identify unknown compounds seized at an airport.

For the harder compounds, Sam offered a consulting service where he guided us towards which analytical techniques to use to work out the answer. We all enjoyed the session with Sam and thanks to his expertise in analysis the group all feel more confident in analysis and made a profit in the game!
