What is the Course?

BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise

What will I learn?

Three different areas:

  • Unit 1 - Exploring Enterprises 
  • Unit 2 - Planning for and pitching an enterprise activity
  • Unit 3 - Promotion and Finance for Business

Unit 1  - Covers the key issues and skills involved in enterprise. The emphasis is on comparing two small/medium enterprises.  This is coursework based

Unit 2 - Covers the student planning and pitching their own micro business idea. this is coursework based.

Unit 3 - This is an examined Unit on the different financial and promotional elements involved in running an Enterprise

 

How will I be assessed?

Units 1 and 2 are internal.
Unit 3 is an external written exam - incorporating a wide variety of questions and calculations.

When will I be assessed?

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course.

Additional Information

BTEC Tech Award gives a balance between practical skill development with acquisition of some theatrical knowledge. The course is designed to allow students to apply their learning to everyday events. In particular it is expected that students will gain some insights into the world of work using a variety of methods to do so.

What will this qualification allow me to do?

Provides a good foundation for learners in Post 16 education or entry into job roles within business. Progression is available to other vocational qualifications at Level 3 (eg. National Diploma in Business) or competency based courses (NVQ) or their corresponding apprenticeships.
