Learning Support Assistant (Flexible Hours)
We are seeking to appoint a caring, dedicated Learning Support Assistant (Teaching Assistant) to join our Aspire@Hanley team. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO, Deputy SENCO and Senior LSA to implement the whole-school SEND strategy and ensure that Quality First Teaching is delivered to students with SEND.
Working hours: Flexible up to 25 hours per week (5 days). Minimum 5 hours (1 full day). Available working hours are 9:15am – 3:15pm, Monday to Friday (includes 2 x 30-minute breaks).

Learning Support Assistant - Personal Care
We are seeking to appoint two patient, calm and empathetic individuals to join us from 1 September 2025 in providing one-to-one personal care and support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This role involves meeting the pupil’s physical, emotional, and educational needs in a respectful and dignified way. Responsibilities include assisting with physiotherapy, feeding, and communication, working closely with teaching staff and professionals to support the pupil’s full inclusion and participation in school life. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference, and be part of the supportive Aspire@Hanley team.
We are looking for someone with experience working with young people and supporting pupils with EHCPs. The successful candidate will also be willing to develop new skills and undertake necessary training to support the student, including training on using a hoist and eye gaze technology. Experience working with children who have complex physical and communication needs would be beneficial but is not essential.
Working hours:
One role is for 27.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:15pm)
One role is for 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:15am – 3:15pm)
Both roles are term-time only plus 8 training days.

Salary: The salary is in accordance with TA3 (SCP7-17).
Please note, unless for an exceptional candidate who meets all aspects of the person specification, the post will be offered at the bottom of the scale, TA3 SCP7. A salary increment is given annually.
The salary is pro-rated to £14,849 for 25 hours per week and £16,334 for 27.5 hours per week (TA3 SCP7).
Terms: This post is fixed-term and linked to the support needs of a named pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The contract will be for the duration of the pupil’s placement at the school and will end when the pupil leaves or no longer requires this support.

Behaviour Support Assistant (Ready to Learn Room)
We are seeking to appoint a committed and empathetic individual to support our high standards of behaviour for learning at Hanley Castle High School. The successful candidate will work within the Ready to Learn Room, providing short-term support to students who require time out or reflection due to not meeting classroom conduct expectations. This role involves fostering a calm, purposeful environment where students can re-establish positive behaviours, working closely with the Ready to Learn Room Manager and the wider pastoral team.
We are looking for someone with experience in behaviour and pastoral support in education or a similar setting, who is confident in managing challenging situations using de-escalation techniques, and can demonstrate strong skills in motivating students. You should be an outstanding role model, empathetic yet firm, with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. A passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential, commitment to inclusion and diversity, resilience and the ability to work calmly as part of a team are essential.
Working hours:
37 hours per week, 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday-Thursday, 8.30am-4.00pm Friday (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break). Permanent. Term- time only plus 8 Professional Development Days.
Salary:
Scale 4, SCP7-11 FTE, £25,584 - £27,269 FTE (pay award pending), depending on skills and experience. Pro-rated to £21,976 - £23,424 per annum.
